Carol Ann McCroskey was born January 15, 1963, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Loyd and Shirley (Oldham) McCroskey. She passed away September 16, 2025, with her family by her side.
Carol graduated from Maysville High School in 1981. She played basketball and softball, and she was band queen one year. After graduation she pursued her career in nursing at OSU-OKC. She married Steve Hein in 1984, and they adopted Joshua Ray in 1995.
Carol began her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She later worked at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, where she retired. She is fondly remembered by the many nurses who worked beside her as a great friend, mentor and someone who could always make you laugh. She loved being a nurse.
Her love for nursing began in high school when she worked as a CMA at the nursing home in Maysville with her mother and sister.
Carol is survived by Joey Jacobs whom she spent the last 18 years with; son, Joshua, of their home; Anna Hale and Becca of Oklahoma City; brothers, Mike McCroskey, of OKC, and Lynn McCroskey, of Lindsay; sister, Sue Lauderdale and James, of Edmond; and Joshua’s grandmother, Carolyn Hein.
She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Steve Hein, and Steve’s father, Leland Hein, and her parents, Loyd and Shirley McCroskey.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Edmond church of Christ, 801 S. Bryant, Edmond, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of John W Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at winansfuneralhome.com.
