Centenarians of Oklahoma was proud to honor Lindsay resident and World War II veteran Lige Work on the occasion of his 100th birthday by inducting him into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Work was one of 10 children in a hardworking farm family. A proud member of the Choctaw Nation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II with time in France and the Philippines.
He spent his life farming and had a career as a Rural Electric Coop lineman.
Work remains active in the Lindsay First Baptist Church, and is a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoys pecan harvesting, watching Gunsmoke and time with family.
Known for his resilience and lively spirit, he has survived farm accidents, raised cattle, and still mows his own yard at age 100! His advice for a long life: 'Work hard, be honest, don't steal and have faith in the Lord.'
