The Maysville Lady Warriors lost one game short of the State Tournament.
They lost the Class B2, Area II Consolation Championship 67-26 to Lookeba-Sickles in Noble on Saturday. The Lady Panthers advanced to the State Tournament, where they won their quarterfinal game.
“I’m so grateful for the season we’ve shared,” Coach Jordan Meija said. “Finishing in the top 12 in the state is something not many people expected, but it speaks to the heart of our team.”
The Lady Warriors marched through the Area Consolation bracket at Noble, winning 53-39 over Big Pasture on Thursday and 43-25 over Granite on Friday.
“I’m extremely proud of them,” said Meija after the Granite game. “They came out and set the tone from the start. I was blown away by how they came out and handled things the way they did.”
Against Lookeba-Sickles, Avery Riley scored 11 points, Allison Sanders 10, and Jolie Summers 5. All are seniors playing in their final game.
“Our four seniors made this year truly special,” Meija said. “They lived out our theme, ‘Leave no doubt’ in the way they prepared, competed, and represented our program every single night. Their effort and leadership set the tone for our team. They’ll be greatly missed, but the impact they’ve had on this program will be felt for a long time.”
