Maysville advances to Regional Championship
The Lady Warriors (14-5, #15 in Class B2) started Regionals with a 44-16 win over Milburn (10-13) Tuesday after receiving a bye for District play.
Maysville will play Pittsburg (22-4, #2) at 6 p.m. Saturday for the Regional Championship. Both teams will advance to Area Feb. 26-28 in Noble.
The Regional Champion will play the other Regional Champion from the Lookeba-Sickles (19-8, #8) vs Granite (19-7, #13) game.
The Regional Runner-up will play the Regional Consolation Champion from the other region. Possible teams are Duke, Big Pasture, Olustee-El Dorado, Temple or Indiahoma.
Elmore City-Pernell falls short in District Championship
The Lady Badgers (12-11, Class A) came within 2 points of Verden in the final quarter, but the Tigers went 8 for 8 at the free-throw line to clinch a 39-29 win and the district title.
“They did a solid job breaking our press and took away our fastbreak,” said Coach Tim Johnson.
Karli Meadows led the offense with 8 points. Gentri Condit and Jyntre Patterson scored 7 each, Suzy Milligan 5, and Remlee McIntosh 2.
In the Regionals consolation bracket, Elmore City-Pernell will play Carnegie at 6 p.m. Thursday at Carnegie. The winner will advance to play Velma-Alma (17-7) at 1 p.m. Friday in Apache.
The Regional Consolation Championship will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Apache.
Paoli loses Districts to Chattanooga
The Lady Pugs (6-8, Class B2) lost 64-25 to Chattanooga (21-5, #7).
For the Regionals consolation bracket, they will play Cement (6-15) at 6 p.m. Thursday in Chattanooga. The winner will advance to play the loser of Sharon-Mutual (8-12) at 1 p.m. Friday in Erick.
The consolation championship will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Erik.

Elmore City-Pernell struggles against Verden
In the Class A, Area III, District 8 Championship, Verden (21-6, #14) shot 70% from the field to win 81-25 over the Badgers (10-13).
Other struggles for Elmore City-Pernell included Carston Lauderdale being double-teamed and team captain Carsen Chapman still on the bench after an ankle injury in the Empire game.
“I thought we were alright, but then we ran into a buzzsaw,” Coach Erik Yeiser said.
For the Regionals consolation bracket, the Badgers will play Carnegie (10-13) at 7:30 p.m. at Carnegie.
“They have a comparable record and are smaller than Verden,” Yeiser said. “The kids are excited and ready to play.”
The winner will advance to play Velma-Alma (19-5, #7) at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Apache.
The consolation championship will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Maysville loses to Calvin
The Warriors (1-15) lost the Class B2, Area II, District 5 Championship 44-13 to Calvin (16-7, #20).
In the Regionals Consolation Bracket, they will play Springer at 7:30 Thursday at Springer. The winner will play Pittsburg (15-11) at 2:30 Friday at Tupelo.
The consolation championship will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Tupelo.
Paoli falls to Chattanooga
In Class B2, Area I, District 5, the Pugs (1-13) lost 70-15 to Chattanooga (25-1, #7).
In the Regionals Consolation Bracket, Paoli plays Cement at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Chattanooga. The winner will play Sweetwater (17-8, #11) at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Erik.
The consolation championship will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Erik.
