Courthouse hosts Veterans Day Luncheon, Nov. 14

County officials and staff from the Garvin County Courthouse and OSU Extension will be hosting a Veterans Day Luncheon to honor all county veterans and their families Friday, Nov. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon will be in the lobby of the courthouse, 201 W. Grant Ave., Pauls Valley. All veterans, family and friends are invited to attend.

 

Lindsay Special Olympics hosting bingo fundraiser

The Lindsay Special Olympics Team is hosting a series of bingo fundraisers this school year to help pay for its upcoming activities. The next bingo event is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Lindsay Public Schools Cafeteria. The cost to play is $5 per bingo card, or five cards for $20. Prizes will include gift cards, a handcrafted crocheted blanket and more. Refreshments also will be available for sale.

The proceeds from this year’s bingo fundraisers are going to help Lindsay's Special Olympics Team cover expenses for its 2025-2026 season. The team annually represents Lindsay Public Schools at the state Winter Special Olympics hosted by the University of Oklahoma, the Summer Special Olympics hosted by Oklahoma State University and numerous local and district events.

Library Story Time, Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Children of all ages are invited to come have fun reading, singing and crafting during Story Time at the Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow St., in Pauls Valley. Story Time is at 10 a.m. each Thursday.

 

Group searching for past Wiley Post Festival T-shirts 

A group of Maysville quilters is asking for donations of Wiley Post Festival T-shirts from previous years. The shirts will be used to make quilts the group plans to put up for auction at next year’s Wiley Post Festival as a fundraiser for the Maysville library. Anyone interested in donating a shirt can contact the Maysville library at 405867-4748.

 

Pauls Valley Angel Tree accepting applications Nov. 3-8

The mission of the Pauls Valley Angel Tree is to ensure every child in our community feels seen, valued and remembered this Christmas season by uniting as a community to provide gifts and care packages to those who would otherwise go without.

Those in need of assistance this holiday season, may apply for Pauls Valley’s Angel Tree program at the Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow St., during the following dates and times: Nov. 3 from 1-3 p.m., Nov. 4 from 10 a.m-noon, Nov. 5 from 4-6 p.m, Nov. 6 from 10 a.m.-noon, Nov. 7 from 1-3 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Children 0-18 who reside in Pauls Valley and attend Pauls Valley or Whitebead Schools (if school age) may qualify. Homeschooled children will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must provide a government issued ID, proof of residence and proof of enrollment (if applicable).

Pauls Valley Depot Museum closed temporarily

The Pauls Valley Depot Museum will be temporarily closed to the public from Nov. 1-19 as railroad contractors remove the sidewalk behind the depot. For more information, call 405-238-2244 and leave a message.

 

PV Rotary Club collecting supplies for PAWS thru Nov. 8

The Pauls Valley Rotary Club is inviting the local community to help them with a service project to collect supplies for the Pauls Valley Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

The group is accepting donations of plastic silverware, paper towels, laundry soap pods, bleach tablets, 9-by-13-inch foil pans, 55-gallon trash bags, printer paper, dryer sheets, disposable bowls, tall kitchen trash bags and hand sanitizer.Donations can be dropped off at Williamsburg Small Animal Hospital, 34508 W. Airline Rd., in Pauls Valley before Saturday, Nov. 8.

The supply drive is one of multiple service projects being carried out across central and southwestern Oklahoma as part of Rotary District 5770’s Day of Service.

 

Antioch Thanksgiving Dinner set for Nov. 15

Thanksgiving Dinner at Antioch will be Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Antioch Community/Senior Center.

Turkey, dressing and ham will be furnished by Antioch ABC and Antioch Community/Senior Center. Families and individuals are invited to bring their favorite salad, vegetable, casserole or dessert. FBC Elmore City hosting Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Nov. 19

The First Baptist Church of Elmore City will be hosting their FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner Wednesday, November 19, from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. The dinner will be dine-in only, no take-outs. The church is located one block west of the 4-way stop sign in Elmore City. For more information, please call the church at 580-788-4110.

 

Lindsay historical society to host holiday art show and sale, Nov. 8-9

The Lindsay Community Historical Society will host its annual Art Show and Sale Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10-4 and Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1-4 at the Murray Lindsay Mansion, 13031 North County Road 3025, in Lindsay. Admission is free. Guests are invited to attend and enjoy viewing the different types of holiday artwork which will also be available for purchase. Cash or check will be accepted. A photo op will be available on the lawn, and children’s activities will take place on the back porch. A food truck will be stationed in front of the mansion on Saturday.

The Murray Lindsay Mansion is a beautiful historic home built in 1881 in the Erin Springs community that now serves as a LCHS museum. Contact LCHS at 405919-6146 for more information.
