Warriors suffer first District loss to Sasakwa 40-6

The lights went out in Maysville, ending the game with Sasakwa at 40-6 with a minute left in the first quarter.

'We came in strong and had hopes high, but we didn't play as good as we did last week,' Noah Alviso said.

Numerous injuries also put the Warriors at a disadvantage in the short game.

'We played a good football team,' said Coach Dace Lemieux. 'It was a tall task when we're low on numbers.'

Maysville's lone touchdown came from a 68-yard drive that ended with quarterback Ryan Johnson carrying the ball the last 5 yards.

'We had a lot of good blocks, and I like to find the endzone a lot,' Johnson said.

Kash Brown recovered the Warriors' onside kick, but the drive ended with a punt that Sasakwa returned for a touchdown.

Going into the game, the two teams were the only undefeated teams in the district. The loss drops Maysville to 2-1 in the district, just like Maud. The Warriors will play at Maud next.
