Free webinar to give overview of National Register of Historic Places

OKLAHOMA CITY —The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) will hold a free webinar Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m., to discuss an overview of working with the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Michael Mayes, National Register of Historic Places coordinator and historic preservation specialist for the State Historic Preservation Office, will be the featured presenter.

The NRHP is the foundation of the SHPO’s programs, and a basic understanding of it is essential for those involved in historic preservation at all levels of government and the private sector. This workshop provides detailed information about what listing in the National Register means, the rights of property owners in the process, the National Register criteria and the seven aspects of integrity.

Registration for the webinar is available online. For more information, contact Michael Mayes at 405-522-4479 or michael.mayes@history.ok.gov.
