The game of the week for Class A was in Wynnewood last Friday night. Wynnewood hosted the Minco Bulldogs for a potential District title winner. The Savages took advantage of a fumble by the Bulldogs and marched down the field behind Aydrian Knighten and Briar Davenport for a touchdown with three minutes left in the first quarter. The next possession by the Bulldogs stalled at midfield and punted to the Savages’ Luke Stevenson for a touchdown return.
The Savages added another touchdown on an 11-yard run by Knighten to take the score to 21-0 with 6 minutes left in the half.
The Bulldogs would get on the board before halftime on a pass play to the wide out for a touchdown making the halftime score 21-7.
The Savages scored the last touchdown on a 14-yard run by Knighten to put the Savages up 28-7 midway thru the third quarter.
The Savages defensive line played their tails off all night long. The Savages secondary allowed a fourth down conversion by Minco at the Wynnewood 18 yard line which turned into a score at 28-14. The Bulldogs scored again late in the fourth quarter on a QB sneak up the middle for a touchdown. The extra point was wide left to bring the final score 28-20. Wynnewood travels to Okemah this week to face off against the 1-5 (0-3) Panthers.
