September sales tax disbursement shows county sales stronger in July

The latest distribution of sales and use tax reports from the Oklahoma Tax Commission, released Sept. 8, shows Garvin County sales and use tax collections were largely up compared to the same period last year.

In sales tax collections, Garvin County showed the largest gain, with an increase of more than $380,000 over the same period in 2024. However, the County’s use tax collections were down by about $17,000 compared to last July’s.

Lindsay and Wynnewood were the only Garvin County communities to show a decrease, both in sales and use tax collections, compared to July 2024.

According to the Tax Commission, the disbursement of $212,030,286 in sales tax collections returned to cities and towns across the state reflected an increase of $8,770,707 from the $203,259,579 distributed to them in September last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $39,302,940.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $39,539,744 sales tax disbursement and $8,001,238 in a use tax disbursement.

The September 8, 2025, distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from July business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from July 16-30 and estimated sales from August 1-15.
