Monday is deadline to request absentee ballot for Stratford school bond election

Voters who want to request an absentee ballot for Sept. 9 special elections must have their applications to the Garvin County Election Board by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25.

In Garvin County the Sept. 9 election date will include two school bond propositions to be decided by voters in the Stratford School District.

Garvin County Election Board Secretary Holly Levis said absentee voting is available to all voters and can be submitted several ways.

“In Oklahoma, no excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot, and it’s easy to apply. Voters can submit their application online, in-person, by fax, mail or email,” Levis said.

Voters can apply online using the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp. Applications are also available at the County Election Board or can be downloaded at oklahoma.gov/elections.

Levis reminds voters applicants must submit their own absentee ballot application. It is against the law to submit an absentee ballot application for another person.

Voters with questions about absentee voting should contact the County Election Board at 405-238-3303 or garvincounty@elections.ok.gov.

The Garvin County Election Board, 201 W. Grant Ave., Room 8, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
