Susan Kay (Jarman) Haigood, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away all too soon on April 10, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was born November 22, 1955, in Wynnewood, Okla., to John Orval Jarman and Nita Kathrin (Stephens) Jarman. Raised in Pauls Valley, Okla., Susan grew up surrounded by siblings and cousins, creating treasured memories that would last a lifetime.
A proud student of Pauls Valley schools, Susan dedicated her life to caring for others. Susan owned and operated a daycare for over 30 years, providing a nurturing and loving environment for countless children. For 15 years, she was also the devoted caretaker of her beloved bonus son, Brandon. It was a role she embraced with selfless love and deep commitment.
On February 2, 2003, Susan married the love of her life, Steven Wayne Haigood, at Beaty Baptist Church. Together they shared a life full of laughter, love and quiet joy. She attended First Church of God in Pauls Valley, where she found community and spiritual strength.
Susan’s heart was her family. She was the center of every gathering, known for her warm hugs, quick wit, and the best lemon bundt cake around. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, where she cooked with love for her children and grandchildren. She found joy in playing games with family, embarking on girls’ trips with her mom and sisters, and spending peaceful weekends camping with Steve. Her grandchildren and her husband were the light of her life, and she never missed a moment to show how deeply she loved them.
She taught by example, always putting family first, offering the kind of advice you did not always want but always needed, and living a life of compassion, honesty and strength. To know Susan was to be loved, challenged and encouraged to be your best self.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and selfless service that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Susan is survived by her husband, Steve Haigood; mother, Nita (Stephens) Jarman; sons, Shane Weatherford and wife Barbara, and Michael Haigood; daughters, Stacy Williams and Stacy Haigood; bonus son, Brandon; brother, Danny Jarman and wife Laurie; sisters, Linda Hurley and husband Oran, and Donna Sharp and husband Bo; grandchildren, Dylan Norman, Brett Autrey and husband Chazz, Abbigale Weatherford, Dakota Weatherford and Lily Williams; great-grandchildren, Bria Norman and Rhylan Norman.
