Two young women from Garvin County FFA chapters are candidates for 2025-2026 state FFA officer positions.
Grace Wright, a member of the Stratford FFA chapter, is running for state FFA president, and Taryn McCaa, a member of the Elmore City-Pernell FFA chapter, is a candidate for the office of Central area vice president.
If elected, both girls will have the opportunity to serve over 29,000 Oklahoma FFA members. State officers travel across the state and nation to provide leadership and personal development training for FFA members. They also make decisions about organizational policy.
“Serving as a state FFA officer is considered one of the greatest honors in the FFA,” said Trevor Lucas, state FFA executive secretary. “Officers play an extremely important role within our state association and are expected to set the example both in and out of the jacket for all Oklahoma FFA members.”
A nominating committee interviewed 51 candidates Feb. 15-16. They narrowed the field of candidates to three for each of the seven offices up for election. McCaa was chosen as a candidate for Central area vice president.
The eighth race is for state president, whose candidates have served as officers since May 2024. Wright is among those candidates, and currently serves as the 2024-2025 Central area vice president.
Two delegates from each of Oklahoma’s 369 official chapters will cast the deciding votes during the 99th annual state FFA convention. The new officers will be introduced during the final convention session May 7 in the BOK Arena in Tulsa, Okla.
