Dwight F. Townsend

Dwight F. Townsend was born on January 18, 1945, in Brownwood, Missouri, to the late Dobie and Mary (Bowman) Townsend. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 16, 2024, at Medical City Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 79 years. Dwight attended Advance High School in Advance, Missouri, and graduated in 1964. He later joined the United Sates Air Force from 1965 to 1969 being honorably discharged. After returning from service Dwight married Judy Blankenship. They had three daughters from this union. In 2001 he married Mary Sharpton and they were married for 19 years at the time of her passing in 2021. Dwight retired from Dresser Engineering where he worked as a pipe fitter at the Warren plant. Dwight enjoyed having a morning cup of coffee at the café and going to garage sales and flea markets. He also enjoyed taking Carnival cruises, “the Big Boat,” with his family. Dwight’s family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Dwight will affectionately be remembered for his quick wit and his infectious sense of humor.

Dwight is survived by his daughters Latasha (Tash) Tidwell of Advance, Missouri; Libby (Lib) Potts and Frank of Paoli, Oklahoma; and Leisha (Lee) Keesee and Shannon of Elmore City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Seth Potts and Tammi of Paoli, Oklahoma; Natalie Keesee and James Warren of Paoli, Oklahoma; Darci Tidwell of Advance, Missouri; and Niki Keesee of Elmore City, Oklahoma; great grandchildren Piper Potts, Autumn Warren and Penelope Potts; mother of his children, Judy Beavers; stepchildren Ronda Smith of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Tammy Ford of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 10 step-grandchildren, 26 step-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and a nephew.

He is preceded by his parents, Dobie and Mary Townsend; wife, Mary Townsend; brother, Douglas Townsend; sisters Sue Wilton and Linda Lou; nephew, Lawrence Chadbourne; stepson, Rodney Sharpton; and a step granddaughter.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Wiley Funeral Center in Granbury, Texas, with final proceedings at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, on Friday, September 27, 2024.
