Maysville fills vacancy on town board

The Maysville Board of Trustees voted to appoint Eric Catman to fill an open position on the board during their regular meeting July 9. Catman was sworn in during a special meeting of the board Monday night.

Catman was one of three candidates to be considered for the position, which was vacated in May by the resignation of Anita Uhles.

Other business conducted during the July 9 regular meeting included approving a request from Maysville Public Schools for 911 street addresses. The board designating 901 Oak St. for the elementary school; 507 10th St. for the baseball and softball fields and concession stand; 509 10th St. for the field house; and 607 10th St. for the football field.

The board approved the City of Lindsay to continue spraying for mosquitos in Maysville every two weeks through the end of September.

Under an agenda item to discuss water leaks the board approved a motion to allow Town Administrator Doug Jolley to discuss the leaks with the town’s engineering firm and find out what the cost would be to repair them.

The board also approved two separate agenda items to put $921.67 designated for the town’s skate park fund and $450.08 for the swimming pool fund in separate CDs with a local bank.

In a related item taken up during Monday’s special meeting, the board voted to put the skate park funds in a CD at First United Bank, and to see if the bank would waive a minimum balance requirement of $500 to also put the swimming pool funds in a CD.

During Monday’s special meeting trustees also voted to accept bids to lease out a parcel of land on the north side of Maysville’s lake, and in a separate agenda item, to conduct an inventory of tools purchased in the last year by the town’s various departments.

Trustees also had a discussion about the possibility of adding RV hookups for water, sewer and electric on the north side of Maysville’s lake in an effort to attract recreational campers to the area. The board voted to have Jolley look into what would need to be done to facilitate that and how much it would cost.
