Larry Don “CW” Davis, age 73, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, passed away December 7, 2023, as a result of a motorcycle accident outside of Seminole, Oklahoma. Larry was born September 21, 1950, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Clyde Davis and Imogene (Ford) Davis. His family moved to the Pauls Valley area when he was very young. Larry attended school in Paoli. He had a career in the Oil and Gas industry that spanned 50 years. He started his career with Shebester Bechtel Oil Well Servicing where he worked with his father and then moved on to many other companies such as Halliburton, John A Taylor Drilling Co., C.L. Davis Well Service Co., and others before becoming a consultant. Over his long career he worked many different onshore and offshore fields, here in the United States as well as overseas. He married Linda Kay Moody of Pauls Valley on September 11, 1970; the marriage lasted until his death 53 years later. During this time, he had to move his family many times because of his work, but they always moved back home to Pauls Valley anytime they could.
They had three boys who would always fill the house with their friends. Larry would come home to find the entire high school basketball team sitting in the living room watching TV and eating what they had rummaged up out of the icebox and pantry, or he would wake up in the morning to find kids asleep on every couch, chair and in the floor, as well as coon dogs tied to every tree in the front yard from the hunt the night before. He would just smile and ask, “You boys doing alright?” because everyone was always welcome at the Davis house, a tradition he carried on from his parents.
Larry had a lifelong love for motorcycles starting as a teenager. He would ride every chance he could, short trips around home or long road trips such as one of the many trips to Sturgis for the bike rallies, and whether it was with his wife, Linda, riding along beside him on her trike, or with his friends, the joy was because of the people who rode with him as much as the ride itself.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Imogene Davis in 2007; father, Clyde Davis in 2015; stepmother, Vera Davis; stepbrother, Dewayne Sparks; and stepsister, Brenda Angel.
Larry is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Linda of the home; one brother, Clyde Davis, Jr. and wife, Paulette Davis, of Cathedral, California; one sister, Iris Davis of Norman, Oklahoma; stepsisters, Linda York and Llaine Brookshire and husband, Terry Brookshire, all of Pampa, Texas; three sons, Brent Davis and wife, Dana Davis, of Lefors, Texas, Jason Davis of White Deer, Texas, and Eric Davis of Pampa, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
