Pauls Valley FOP to host free community event at Wacker Park, Oct. 21
The Pauls Valley Fraternal Order of Police will host a free community event Saturday, Oct. 21, from 1-3 p.m. at Wacker Park, 1005 N. Willow St. Pauls Valley officers will be serving free hot dogs, chips and drinks, and there will be free crafts and activities for the kids. The Wacker Park StoryWalk will feature a police-themed story starting Saturday and running through the month of November. Photos and short biographies of local officers will be posted along the walk.
Courthouse to honor Garvin County veterans with luncheon Nov. 9
The Veterans Day Luncheon at the Garvin County Courthouse will be Thursday, November 9, from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. The annual luncheon is an opportunity for Garvin County Courthouse staff and the Garvin County Commissioners to honor and thank veterans from across the county who have served our country through the armed forces. All veterans are invited to attend. Anyone who would like to honor a special veteran this year by sharing a photo or story is asked to email that information to Tracie Mullendore at the Garvin County Extension Office at mullendoretracie@gmail.com.
Garvin County 4-H fundraiser, Oct. 22
Garvin County Masons will sponsor the third annual “Fallin’ into Fun” fundraiser dinner to benefit Garvin County 4-H Sunday, Oct. 22, beginning at noon at the Bosa Community Center, 207 Bosa Ave., in Pauls Valley. The event will include a pulled pork and brisket dinner, live dessert auction, silent auction, bounce house and fun for the whole family. Donations will be taken at the door. Funds from the event will help support the annual 4-H camp, leadership conferences and other events and activities attended by Garvin County 4-H members.
Free dance lessons in October and November
A variety of free dance lessons are being offered at the Donald W. Reynolds Recreation Center, 1005 N. Willow, in Pauls Valley in October and November. Lessons in country, Latin, line dancing and kids dancing will be offered from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 21, Nov. 4 and Nov. 18. Classes will be followed by a social dance. The lessons are offered by Oklahoma Dance Foundation in partnership with the Pauls Valley Community Foundation, First United Bank and Reach Dance Studios. Garvin County Republicans to host barbecue, Oct. 21
The Garvin County Republican Party will hold a barbecue Saturday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at the Bosa Community Center, 207 Bosa Ave. in Pauls Valley. Guest speakers will include Oklahoma GOP Vice-Chairman Wayne Hill and former State Representative and former Oklahoma GOP Chairman John Bennett. PV Depot Museum changes hours
The Pauls Valley Depot Museum has recently changed its hours of operation. The museum is now open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday thru Saturday. The museum is closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
‘Let’s Talk About It’ book discussion series
Pauls Valley’s Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow, is hosting the next “Let’s Talk About It” book lecture Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. The November selection is “A Good Scent From a Strange Mountain” by Robert Olin Butler The lecture and discussion will be led by Ken Hada. Toy and Action Figure Museum celebrates 18 years
Pauls Valley’s Toy and Action Figure Museum, 111 S. Chickasaw St., is celebrating its 18th birthday Sat., Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will offer free admission all day, and there will be contests, prizes and cake.
Free Yoga and Tai Chi Classes at PV Library
Pauls Valley’s Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow, is offering free Yoga and Tai Chi classes this fall. “Gentle Yoga with Mylee” will be offered on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. through Dec. 18. Tai Chi classes led by Tarin Clark will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m. through Dec. 19. For more information call the library at 405-238-5188.
Washita River Art Show at Murray Lindsay Mansion, Oct. 21-22
The Washita River Art Show and Sale will be Oct. 21-22 at the Murray Lindsay Mansion, 13031 N. County Road 3025 in Erin Springs, just south of Lindsay. The second annual show and sale will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
A variety of painting including landscapes, impressionism, glass painting, Native American art and Lindsay Leopard art will be displayed. Decorating décor and other artistic items will also be for sale.
