Robert Sam Wright

Robert Sam Wright was born January 9, 1930, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, to Henry Carl Wright and Elma Susan (Keplinger) Green. Robert passed away on September 22, 2023, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. Growing up, Robert loved tending to the farm that he grew up on and working so hard on the farm helped turn him into the man that he was the rest of his life. He went to school at Vanoss High School then joined the United States Army where he served for two years, then moved on to the United States Air Force where he retired after serving for 20 years. Robert married the love of his life, Pamala (Wilson) Wright, on April 24, 1981, in Norman, Oklahoma and they celebrated 42 years of marriage this year. After the military, Robert went on to work at the City of Pauls Valley as a Water Plant Operator and he retired from there as well. If he wasn’t working, Robert enjoyed gardening. He loved tomatoes – sometimes in conjunction with chocolate pudding, biscuits and gravy, being around his family, music, dancing and would often go to the Sulphur American Legion Dance Hall. Robert was also a member of the Lindsay and Elmore City chapters of the Legion.

Robert is survived by his wife, Pamala (Wilson) Wright, of Lindsay, Oklahoma; sons, Bobby D. Wright and wife, Holly, of Cordova, Tennessee and Eddy S. Wright of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; daughters, Brenda Sue Brown of Choctaw, Oklahoma and Sherry McCaslin of Fargo, Oklahoma.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carl Wright and Elma Susan (Keplinger) Green; his brothers, Clifford Wright, RC Wright, Eugene Wright and Ferman Wright; sister, Zenoma Blevins; daughter, Vickie Liles; and son-in-Law, Dennis McCaslin.

Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home and will be held in a private family gathering. Time for the family gathering will be set at a later date.
