Gayla Arlene Hines Smith, of Pauls Valley, passed away August 27, 2023 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years. Gayla Arlene Hines was born November 4, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roy Walter Hines and Dorothy Arlene (McCurley) Hines. She is a graduate of the Pauls Valley High School and later was married to Dan Smith in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on June 18, 1983. She worked in accounting and bookkeeping for many years for Better Barns Portable Building Manufacturing and Sales. Pauls Valley has been her home all of her life, except for the 13 years when she and Dan lived in California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy “Shorty” and Dorothy Hines; and her brother-in-law, David Smith. Her surviving family includes her husband of 40 years, Daniel James ‘Dan’ Smith; one son and his wife, Jonathan and Tonya Tobey, her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jake and Erandi Tobey; her mother and father-inlaw, Nancy and Jim Smith; her sister, Susan Hines--all of Pauls Valley; a sister in law, Paula Smith Puig; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Smith of Van Alstyne, Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and her work family.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Services for cremation are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
