William (Bill) Rayburn Amos, 88, of Farmington, New Mexico passed away at home on February 11, 2023. Known to friends and family in Oklahoma as “Rip”, Bill, was born in Maysville, Oklahoma, on June 3, 1934, to parents, William Horace Amos and Sallie Frances (Moore) Amos.
Bill volunteered for the United States Army in 1953 after graduating from high school. He went back and forth to New Mexico and Nevada several times before permanently settling in Farmington in 1961. He was a successful business man and real estate investor. Bill was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.
Bill is survived by his longtime partner, Darlene Chapman; son, Ray Amos and wife, Anne; granddaughters, Erika Charles and Alexis Amos; brother, Carl Amos (Barbara); and sisters, Frances (D.C) Ward, Sally Joyce (Jay) Tewksbury and Donna (Mike) Tucker.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Nona, Eva, Kathy, Nola and Joan; brothers, Richard, Tony and Ed; son, Bryan; and granddaughter, Jamie Amos.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, in Farmington, New Mexico.
