Paula Rene Powers

Paula Rene Powers, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, was born to Paul Edwin Little and Shirley Sue (Perez) Robbins on September 8, 1955, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on October 27, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years, Paula spent her early years spending time with her grandma, Mrs. Robbins and was very active in school and pageantry. She won numerous pageants growing up, including the title of first runner up in the Little Miss America contest held in California in 1968. Paula competed against 200 other young ladies ages 10-12 years. During 1971-72 she won first place in modeling pageant, Holiday palladium and was second maid on the football homecoming court, sophomore year. She was picked the sophomore class favorite, was football queen her junior year, the junior class favorite, Key club sweetheart, student council representative, member of the science-math club, FBLA club secretary, member of Astra club, and March of Dimes chairman. She was picked for the queen in competition when surrounding schools sent their Key club sweethearts to the Kiwanis dinner. Paula represented the state of Louisiana in various gold gloves boxing tournaments. Paula rode in the Mardi Gras parade in Lafayette and appeared on television to promote the state boxing tournament. She presented trophies to the 25 winners in their various divisions. She was voted most beautiful and most popular at Comeaux High School, where she later graduated in 1973 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She then attended East Central University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. While at East Central, Paula was a member of the Sorority, Pi Kappa Alpha.

Paula worked for Joe and Janet Moore at Moore Sonic Management Group since 2004. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing dominoes, reading, crafts, needle point, and games with her grandchildren. Paula loved to joke around and spend time with family and friends. Paula was a daily rider on the Delta Public Transit bus in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where she met and bonded with many people over time. She loved class reunions in Louisiana, raising and loving her kids and grandkids. She taught others to love and be kind and stay strong when life gets difficult. Paula adored her grandkids and her dogs, Rocky and Rooney.

Paula is survived by son, Samuel BJ Powers and wife, Tarra, of Mangum, Oklahoma; daughter, Lacey Rose Powers of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; two nieces, Megan Williams of Madill, Oklahoma, and Mignon Gentry and wife, Ashley Brittain, of Madill, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Piper Rene Maness of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Kamden Roy Powers of Mangum, Oklahoma, and Koen Nash Powers of Mangum, Oklahoma; plus a host of family and friends.

Paula was preceded in death by son, Max Harvey Kelton Jr. in 2013; parents, Paul Edwin Little and Shirley Sue (Perez) Robbins; step-father, Larry Perez; and sister, Holly Denise Gentry 2022.
