A two-vehicle collision on State Highway 76 south of Lindsay Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a Lindsay teenager.
The 17-year-old was driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade northbound on Highway 76 just after 2 p.m. Sunday, when he attempted to make a left turn onto a county road and entered the southbound lane, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
He was hit head-on by a 1995 Peterbilt semi-tractor and trailer, driven by 52-year-old Travis D. Christensen of Washington, Okla.
Christensen’s Peterbilt departed the roadway to the right, and the Escalade came to rest in the roadway.
The teen was pinned in his vehicle for about 40 minutes before the Lindsay Fire Department was able to free him using the Hurst tool.
He was transported from the scene by Air Evac to OU Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
According to the report, Christensen was transported to OU Medical Center by Elmore City EMS, where he was admitted in stable condition with a head injury.
A passenger in the Peterbilt was also transported to the hospital by Elmore City EMS. She was treated and released.
Authorities have not released the name of the teen.
The accident was investigated by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers with the Garvin/Murray County Detachment of Troop F. The Lindsay and Elmore City fire departments, Lindsay and Elmore City EMS and Air Evac assisted at the scene.
