Culley Brant Turner

Culley Brant Turner of Davis, Oklahoma, was born October 21, 1971, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and passed from this life September 9, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 50 years. Culley grew up and attended school in Elmore City, Oklahoma, graduating in 1989. After high school, he began working as a driller in the oilfield, later working as a pumper and eventually as a fisherman for many years. He became known as “Sharphook” for his aptitude for retrieving “fish” from downhole. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at the lake, visiting with his countless friends, and watching football— particularly when cheering on the Las Vegas Raiders and OU Sooners. Culley especially enjoyed taking tours throughout the South, including Nashville, Tennessee, and Macon, Georgia. The highlight of his life was his family. He will be remembered as a wonderful, loving father to his boys, a genuine, generous friend to all who knew him, and an extremely hard worker with an unmatched work ethic. He had an unwavering personal faith and a belief that he would one day be reunited with all his loved ones who have since passed.

Mr. Turner is survived by sons, Braden Culley Turner and Chanden Brant Turner; the mother of his children and wife for 29 years, Aimee Turner; parents, Joe and Donna Turner; and Gene Melton; grandmother, Judy Shelton Jennings; brother, Shane Melton and wife, Stayce; niece, Shayna Melton; aunts, Toya McHam and husband, Scott, Sally Martin and Linda Couch and husband, Gary; uncle, Benny Turner and wife, Sue; and a host of cousins, great-uncles and aunts, and extended family.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his sister; Chanda Turner; his uncle, Kenny Shelton; and his grandparents, Ben and Vera Turner and Marvin Shelton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma, with Pastor Jimmy Balentine officiating.
