James Aldon “Owl” Hunt of Lindsay was born October 1, 1948, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to Clarence Cecil and Ruby Irene (Jensen) Hunt. He passed from this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years.
Al was a lifetime resident of the Hughes/Wallville area graduating from Hughes High School in 1966, and later serving his country in the U. S. Army. He married Cynthia Ann Dodson on July 22, 1977, at the Robinson Street Holiness Church in Norman. Al worked in the oilfield doing sandblasting and steam cleaning. He was a pastor of the Waurika Holiness Church for two years and the Wallville Holiness Church for 30 years and was a member of the Wallville House of Prayer. If his preaching went on too long, his aunt Mary Jane would be ringing her keys letting him know it was her lunch time. For 29 years Al wrote a very enjoyable newspaper article called, “Down the Wallville Road” for the Lindsay News. He also wrote three books that he was very proud of, entitled, “Wallville, the Story of a Small Community,” “G. I. Hearts and Carolina Winds,” and “The Haunting of Cindy Hobson.” He did know how to spell, but liked to misspell words for fun like “eye” and “dew.” Al loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren and loved singing fun songs with them. He enjoyed diet cokes, wedges with ranch dressing, orange slices, reading, and word search books. Also, he wasn’t very pleased when Sonic quit selling Totchos! Al was known to get upset if you didn’t give him enough ice in his beverages. One of his hobbies was collecting pop bottles. The family said that every time Al got sick he would start planning his own funeral and he was even known to randomly call the funeral home just to see if anyone had died. This man will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
