VANICE BURDITT

Vanice Merle McCaskill Burditt was born January 29, 1942. She went to be with our Lord on March 11, 2022. She was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Beal Herbert and Alameda McCaskill and grew up on their farm in Antioch, Oklahoma. She attended school at Elmore City where she graduated.

Vanice married Dewayne Burditt December 16, 1961, and they were married for 46 years until his passing in 2007. After high school, they moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where Vanice worked as a waitress at a drug store and as an assistant to the Dean of the school while Dewayne attended college at Okmulgee Tech. After college, they moved to Maysville, Oklahoma, where Vanice got a job working for Henson Insurance Agency and Dewayne worked for the First National Bank. They had three children, Brent, April and Darrin who grew up in their family home on Wilson Ave. The Burditt house always seemed to be the gathering place for all the children in the neighborhood. Vanice was always involved in her children’s lives, whether it be sports or showing livestock. She and Dewayne opened Burditt Insurance Agency in Lindsay and sold real estate. She then went to work with her father as administrator at McCaskill’s Nursing Home in Maysville where she worked until she retired. She and Dewayne bought three other nursing homes which she oversaw the operations of in Hobart, Altus and Okeene, Oklahoma. She played piano all her life and was a talented artist. She loved antiques and attended auctions and flea markets on the weekends. Her interest in antiques prompted her to open an Antiques store in Maysville with her friend. She loved her grandchildren, Casey Whitt, Lauryn Whitt, Isabelle Whitt, Dillon Burditt, and Dakota Burditt and looked forward to seeing them every chance she got.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Brent Burditt of Laurel, Montana, April and husband, Joe, Whitt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Darrin Burditt of Maysville, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Casey Whitt of Detroit, Michigan, Lauryn Whitt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Isabelle Whitt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Dillon and Terra Burditt of Omaha, Nebraska, Dakota and Tristin Burditt of Moweaqua, Illinois; brother-in-law, Glenn and Barbara Burditt of Drumright, Oklahoma; along with scores of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
