Joe Eddy, age 70, of Purcell, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph Eugene Eddy II was born August 23, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the younger of two children born to Joseph and Dolly Francis (Kindrick) Eddy.
His early years were in Tulsa, where he began school. He started high school in Oklahoma City and graduated from U.S. Grant High School with .the Generals Class of 1970. At the time, Joe was working at the T.G.&Y. on 74th and Penn when a coworker caught his eye. He knew she was the one, and the rest, as they say, is history. Joe married Connie Lynn Rhodes on September 5, 1970, in Oklahoma City. They first made their home in the city, and Joe was working in construction. By 1984, they settled in Pauls Valley where together they raised daughter, Celesa and son, Trey. Joe joined the Pauls Valley Fire Department as a volunteer. He continued to serve in various capacities, eventually working his way up to Fire Chief. Joe served Pauls Valley and the surrounding communities for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2012. Away from work, Joe was probably fishing. He enjoyed riding his mower and took great pride in his yard. He liked spending time with his golden retriever, Maci. They were both certified for therapy visits, and Joe volunteered many days visiting with our military veterans. Joe cherished Connie and his children, and was never prouder than the day he became a PaPa. He loved watching football and looked forward to grilling for family get togethers. Joe was a man of deep seated faith, and connected deeply with the Lord. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed!
