Gerald Ray Wood, of Stratford, Oklahoma, was born December 9, 1952, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Lowell and Susie (Hottel) Wood. He passed away February 13, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of sixty-nine years, two months and four days.
He grew up in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School with the class of 1971. He joined the Army Reserves where he served his country. Gerald was a man who wore many hats. He was a cowboy, rode with the Stratford Round Up Club, was a farmer and welder, built metal buildings and ran his own business in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He had a big heart and was always willing to help those in need. He was always first to lend a hand.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Susie Wood; daughter, Cassie Raylynn Wood; sister, Deana Kay Wood; daughter-in-law, Tricia Wood; and brother-in-law, Jim Korzan.
He is survived by his son, Josh Wood, of Stratford; three grandsons, Wyatt, Weston, and Waylon Wood, all of Stratford; two brothers, Leslie Wood and wife, Donna, of Stratford, Greg Wood and wife, Carolyn, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; five sisters, Sue Brown and husband, Don, Nelda Lee and husband, Jimmy, Nancy Pike and husband, Bud, and Debbie Korzan, all of Stratford and Marsha Milligan and husband, Lindell, of Ratliff City, Oklahoma.
Visitation was held Thursday, February 17, 2022, in DeArman Funeral Home, Stratford, Oklahoma from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services were held February 18, 2022, in the Stratford High School Auditorium with Mr. Bill Jones officiating. Burial followed in McGee Cemetery, Stratford, Oklahoma, under the direction of DeArman-Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford.
