Dolese donates truck to Rush Creek Fire Dept.

Garvin County’s Rush Creek Fire Department will soon have a new water-supply tanker truck thanks to a generous donation from the Oklahoma City-based Dolese Bros. Co.

The all-volunteer fire department is one of four rural Oklahoma fire departments that recently received a 2011 Peterbilt Cabin Chassis truck from Dolese. The truck will be retrofitted to serve as a tanker truck.

Rush Creek’s Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Gorden said the truck will be a huge asset to the fire district, which serves the Beaty, McCarty and Love communities in south-central Garvin County.

“Getting water to rural areas is sometimes difficult,” Gorden said.

Rush Creek is working to get the fire district’s ISO ratings down, which will improve insurance premiums for homeowners.

“Being able to have a large amount of water on site is a big part of that,” Gordon said.

When completed the new tanker truck will be able to hold 4,500 gallons of water.

Dolese has historically donated used trucks to fire departments in need across the state.

“Through our equipment donations, these fire departments can protect local homes, businesses and residents more efficiently. Dolese appreciates the opportunity to help, and we thank all firefighters for their service,” Kermit Frank, Dolese’s vice president of communications and community relations, said.

Fire departments in Turley, Canute and Meeker also received donated trucks.
