Election set for November 9
Elmore City voters will elect a city clerk in a special election slated for Nov. 9.
Julie Christian and Stephanie Upshaw both declared their candidacy for the position during last week’s filing period. The office is for a four-year term.
A vacant City Council seat for Ward 3 in Elmore City failed to draw any candidates during the same filing period. The seat
was vacated by the resignation of Randal McFadden earlier this year. McFadden had been re-elected in April and leaves a nearly full term, set to expire in 2025.
Since there were no filings for the seat, the City Council now has 60 days to appoint someone to fill the position.
Voters must be registered to vote by Oct. 15 in order to be eligible to participate in the Nov. 9 election. The last day to request an absentee ballot is Nov. 2. In-person early voting will be Nov. 4-5 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Garvin County Election Board office, 201 W. Grant Ave., Room 8, Pauls Valley.
