Larry George Davis — a loving husband, wonderful father, and a friend to all, passed away August 28, 2021 at his home in Wayne, Oklahoma.
Larry Davis was born March 16, 1959, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to George Alfred and Joan Helen (Glaser) Davis.
He was raised in Maysville, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed playing sports and the great outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish. He graduated from Maysville High School, Class of 1977. Larry then went on to receive his Bachelors Degree of Art in Communication from the University of Oklahoma.
He married the love of his life, Joyce Deanne (Meyer) Davis on August 23, 1985. They made their home in Wayne, Oklahoma, where they raised their three children, Andrew, Kacy, and Carly. He was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell, Oklahoma.
Larry worked in many different capacities during his time on earth. During his young adult life, he worked for Halliburton. He proudly wore a belt buckle for his achievement of driving over one million miles without an accident. His recent place of employment was at McClain County where he served the community for 25 years.
Larry’s life was one built on faith and his love for Christ. Larry was kind, loving, and gentle. He was steadfast and strong and cared for others more than himself. He was a listening ear and gave the most meaningful advice. His biggest pride and joy were his family, friends, and loved ones.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Joan Davis, as well as two sisters, Jan Owen and Linda Harris, and his brother, Terry Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Davis of the home; a son, Andrew Davis of the home; daughters, Kacy Davis Terrel and her husband, Travis Terrel of Moore, Oklahoma, and Carly Davis Terrell and her husband, Jordan Terrell of Norman, Oklahoma; sisters, Dorothy Jones and Sharon Judd of Meeker, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Ronnie Harris of Pauls Valley, and sister-in-law, Beverly Davis of Maysville; along with a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A Rosary/Wake was held September 1, 2021, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held September 2, 2021, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell, Oklahoma, with Priest John Peter officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com.
