PV Police Officer’s Car Show, Brickfest set for Sept. 26

Two popular annual events are returning to downtown Pauls Valley Sept. 26: Brickfest and the 31st annual Pauls Valley Police Officer’s Open Car Show.

The Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce will host Brickfest in the Santa Fe Depot Plaza area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature activities for the whole family including plenty of food and merchandise vendors, a Kids Zone on the grass in the Depot Park area, and the annual Brick Toss contest.

New this year, the Chamber will sponsor a Brickfest Art Competition with entries judged by members of the community and the Pauls Valley Arts Council. The competition will include a coloring contest for students kindergarten through third grade, a youth art contest for anyone under 21, and a community T-shirt design contest for all ages.

Pauls Valley Chamber President Jacob Chapman said coloring sheets for the elementary-age coloring contest will be distributed through school classrooms in the area next week, or can be requested from the Chamber of Commerce at president@paulsvalleychamber. com.

The Youth Art Contest will be for an original, handmade piece showing “What Pauls Valley Means to Me.” Entries may be drawn, painted or created using other craft materials, Chapman said.

For the Community T-shirt Design Contest, participants are invited to help inspire – or create- the official design for next year’s Brickfest logo and T-shirt.

Entries using Artificial Intelligence (AI) are not allowed in the youth or t-shirt design contest.

Participation is free, and youth and community entries must be submitted by 9:30 a.m. at the Chamber Information Booth during Brickfest. Judging for both contests begins at 9:30 a.m.

Ribbons will be awarded to the top three entries in each competition, with a special prize for each firstplace winner.

The 31st annual Pauls Valley Police Officer’s Open Car Show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Paul Avenue, adjacent to the Brickfest area.

The annual show typically draws a wide variety of cars, trucks and motorcycles across multiple classes. This year’s show will include an increase in the number of motorcycle classes available for entries.

Pre-registration is $20, and day of show registration is $25. Check in will be from 7-10 a.m.

All proceeds go the Pauls Valley Police Department Special Fund to be used for training and equipment.

Our Blood Institute will also be conducting a mobile blood drive in conjunction with the car show again this year. OBI will be onsite welcoming donors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
