We have some encouraging economic news for Oklahoma! The state’s economy continued to grow in July, with gains in manufacturing, employment and energy production. While growth has become more gradual, the latest figures show Oklahoma’s economy remains on stable footing.
This information comes from the state treasurer’s office, which recently released its July 2026 Economic Outlook Report.
The report provides a closer look at economic conditions across the state. According to the report, Oklahoma manufacturers continued to receive strong new orders and maintain production levels during July. Although businesses remain careful about adding employees, continued demand and production are positive signs for this important part of our economy.
The report goes on to say that Oklahoma’s labor market also remained steady.
The state’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 4.2% in June, compared with the national rate of 4.1% in July. Employment continues to grow, even as businesses take a more measured approach to hiring.
There was also welcome news on inflation. The state treasurer’s office reported that consumer prices increased only 0.1% in July following a decline in June.
This suggests price growth is becoming slower and more predictable, which could provide some relief for Oklahoma families.
Of course, many families are still paying more for groceries, utilities and other necessities than they did a few years ago. However, the report shows slower inflation means those costs are not increasing as quickly as they once were, which is a positive step.
The report cited that housing affordability continues to be a challenge in Oklahoma and across the country. Mortgage rates increased during July, making borrowing more expensive for prospective homebuyers. However, the state treasurer’s office notes that rates remained below their 2025 highs.
