Wynnewood voters passed a $560,000 school bond issue Tuesday. The bond issue was presented in two separate propositions. Proposition one, approving $210,000 for technology, passed with 78% of the votes cast, according to unofficial election results from the Garvin County Election Board. The funds will be used to replace computers in the elementary and high school computer labs, replace broken student Chromebooks and replace outdated projectors and Smartboards across the district with SmartTV technology.
Proposition two, approving $350,000 for student transportation, passed with 79% of the 290 votes cast. The funds will be used to purchase new activity buses and vans to replace four of the district’s older vehicles.
In Elmore City, voters elected Derek Allen Upshaw to fill an unexpired term as Ward 2 city council member. Upshaw received 37 of the 44 votes cast, just over 84%, to defeat opponent Jason D. Smith for the position.
Tuesday’s election results are not official until certified by the Garvin County Election Board. Unless a contest of election or a petition for recount is filed, results will be certified after 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11. Results of a race in which a contest of election or a petition for recount has been filed cannot be certified until the contest has been heard or the recount has been completed.
