Pauls Valley’s Valley Community Hospital quietly closed its doors to the public Wednesday evening.
Signs posted on the front entrance and emergency room doors Wednesday afternoon said the hospital is temporarily closed, thanked patrons for their support and apologized for any inconvenience. The signs also advised visitors the nearest hospitals are Purcell Municipal Hospital and Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur, both nearly 25 miles away.
The atmosphere inside the hospital was subdued and the News Star was advised no senior hospital officials were available to make a statement “under the circumstances.”
“I wish I had more details for you. We will be closing our doors, hopefully temporarily, at 7 p.m. this evening,” Aaron Wallace, the hospital’s business office manager, said. “We’ll just have to see how things go, financially. I don’t have any other information I can share at this time.”
