Two employees were injured in a fire at the Wynnewood refinery this morning.
According to a statement issued by CVR Energy, which operates the refinery, the fire began around 8:20 a.m. in the gasoline hydrotreater at the facility. Two employees were injured and transported offsite for evaluation. The names of the injured have not been released.
The statement said all other employees have been accounted for at this time. The release goes on to say the source of the fire has been isolated and emergency crews are working to extinguish the fire.
The incident caused portions of US Highway 77 near the refinery to be closed for a short time this morning, as well as the railroad that runs through the refinery property.
Garvin County Emergency Management Director Dave Johnson said the incident was confined to the refinery and there is no threat to the surrounding community.
