Pauls Valley City Councilwoman Amy Richey announced Tuesday she is resigning from her council position due to a relocation that will make her ineligible to serve, since she will no longer meet the municipal residency requirement.
Richey said she and her husband have purchased a home in Norman, which they plan to make their primary residence.
In a letter to citizens, submitted to the News Star Tuesday evening, Richey said her business ventures, which include a restaurant and real estate sales, will remain based in Pauls Valley.
“We are not leaving this community. We are simply changing our home base. I remain fully committed to supporting our schools, our local organizations and the continued growth of this town. That commitment does not change with an address,” Richey said in the letter. “I will continue to stay involved and serve wherever I am able.”
Richey has served on the City Council since November of 2023. Pauls Valley City Council members will now be tasked with appointing a replacement to serve the remainder of Richey’s term, which runs through April of 2027.
