Pauls Valley Junior High Students recently participated in a competitive reading event called PVJH Book Madness 2025. Students and teachers selected the 32 books entered in the competition. Before the competition began, students completed their own individual brackets based on which books they thought would advance. During the competition students could read the books and vote each week on which book was better. It all came down to students choosing “ The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton as their PVJH Book Madness 2025 Champion. The exercise was funded through the Barney Family Grant from the Pauls Valley Foundation for Academic Excellence. The grant, for a project titled Book Bracketology, was awarded to PVJH/PVHS Librarian Melinda Alfred.
