PASS Coalition, local schools celebrate Red Ribbon Week

The PASS Coalition is joining communities nationwide to observe Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23-31. With the theme “Life is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug-Free,” PASS will be at several schools across the county next week, including Lindsay, Whitebead and Pauls Valley Junior High, to talk to students and educators and promote awareness of substance misuse prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.

Red Ribbon Week, the nation’s largest drug prevention campaign, encourages youth and families to make positive choices and raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Activities during the week will include assemblies, classroom lessons, and visits from characters for the younger students.

“Red Ribbon Week is an opportunity to empower our students with knowledge and encourage them to make safe, healthy decisions,” said Jayci Enerson, PASS Coalition member.

“Through community support and education, we can help every child ‘solve the puzzle’ of living drug-free.” Local partners, including the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office, Student Resource Officers, and Garvin County Health Department will participate in activities and share resources to promote awareness about substance misuse prevention.

Established in 1985, Red Ribbon Week is dedicated to inspiring individuals and communities to live drugfree.

The PASS coalition is a group of individuals dedicated to making Garvin County a safer place by addressing substance misuse through prevention efforts. For more information follow PASS on Facebook @ PASSdrugfree or email us at PASSDRUGFREE@gmail. com.
