Paoli schools welcome new teachers for upcoming school year

Paoli schools will welcome three new teachers as classes get under way next week.

Karla Shackleford and Kenneth and Deedra Brantley will be joining Paoli’s faculty this year.

Shackleford will be teaching junior high and high school science and aviation for the district.

She has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in secondary education from East Central University. She’s been an educator for 34 years, teaching at Lexington for seven years and at Purcell for 27 years. Shackleford also taught Chemistry I for Murray State College for two summers.

Kenneth Brantley will be teaching high school math for Paoli, and Deedra Brantley will serve as school counselor.

Kenneth is a Davis High School graduate, and Deedra graduated from Ardmore High School. They met at Murray State College in Tishomingo. They both attended Murray State and East Central University in Ada. Kenneth’s degree is in math and Deedra holds a bachelor’s degree in special education.

Kenneth has taught upper-level math for 30 years, teaching at University High School in Waco, Texas, Maysville High School and Pauls Valley High School.

Deedra has been an educator for 21 years, working for Springer High School, Pauls Valley Middle School, Pauls Valley Alternative Academy and Paoli High School. She was also employed as a school counselor at Wynnewood Junior High School and Ada Junior High School.

The Brantleys have lived in the Paoli area for 26 years. They enjoy the outdoors and working on their small ranch.
