Local Fourth of July celebrations

Several Garvin County communities are holding celebrations over the next few days to mark the Fourth of July holiday. Here’s a quick rundown:

Pauls Valley

LovePV will host the annual 4th of July celebration and fireworks show in Pauls Valley’s Wacker Park. The event will get underway at 5 p.m. July 4, with a variety of food trucks ready to serve patrons in the park near the football field.

The gates at Thompson Field will open at 6 p.m., and visitors will be able to enjoy inflatables, a mechanical bull and retail and food vendors set up inside the stadium.

Sign-up for the annual Watermelon Seed Spitting contest will also begin at 6 p.m., with the contest set to take place at 7:30 p.m.

This year’s live entertainment, Ray and the High Rollers, will take the stage inside the stadium at 7 p.m., and the popular Glow Party with DJ Oz will get underway in front of the stage at 9 p.m.

The fireworks show will start at dark, usually around 9:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit LovePV and its mission of providing school supplies to all Pauls Valley area students.

Lindsay

The city of Lindsay will hold its annual Fourth of July celebration Saturday, July 1.

There will be a parade on Main Street at 3:30 p.m. The festivities will then move to Glenn Curlee Park at 4 p.m. with vendors, live entertainment, kids activities and food vendors. The Lindsay pool will also be open with free admission for the day. The evening concludes with fireworks after dark.

Paoli

The Independence Day fireworks celebration and display at Paoli will also take place Saturday, July 1.

Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. in Dulin Park, near the school. Food, including fried fish and the fixings and barbecue, will be available. Everyone in the area is invited to bring a chair and join in the fun.

The fireworks display will take place after dark.

Elmore City

Elmore City will not have a public firework display this year, but personal fireworks may be popped from July 1-4, at the Elmore City Lake only. Fireworks must be finished by 10 p.m. and everyone is required to clean up their own trash and fireworks debris.

Stratford

Stratford does not have a public firework display planned, but town ordinances do allow residents to discharge personal fireworks inside the boundaries of the Stratford Town Park on July 4 from 7-10 p.m.

Officials caution residents to handle fireworks safely and responsibly and to clean up any trash or debris they generate.
