The new Diesel Technology/Fleet Maintenance building is progressing quickly. All utilities have been installed, and the footings are complete. The service pit has been excavated, and the slab is scheduled to be poured next week. Once the slab has cured, CMU work will begin on the safe-room and building shell. Site work, including the construction of the new parking lot, will continue during this same timeframe and is expected to be completed as the building construction progresses.
The target completion date is the first week of January 2027. Once completed, the Diesel Technology program will move into the new space, making room for a new Welding Fabrication program scheduled to open in August of 2027.

Mid-America Technology Center is proud to call Lexington Nursing Home one of our valued training partners. The facility provides long-term care, skilled nursing, and daily living assistance to residents in the Lexington community, and has built a strong working relationship with MATC to support its staff along the way. MATC‘s Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program prepares new CNAs who go on to work at Lexington Nursing Home, and the facility regularly sends staff to MATC for additional healthcare licensure training, including Certified Medication Aide (CMA)and LPN programs. Beyond standard coursework, MATC provides customized training built specifically for Lexington Nursing Home‘s staff, including CPR certification, monthly in-service training, and restorative care instruction, along with other topics as needs arise. Lexington Nursing Home also partners with MATC‘s healthcare programs to host clinical rotations, giving students real-world, hands-on experience in a working nursing home setting
Teacher Spotlight
Larry Tuck is a welding educator and industry professional with more than 30 years of experience in oilfield, food industry, trailer manufacturing, fabrication, and industrial construction. Mr. Tuck was awarded the Outstanding New Professional Award at the 2026 Ok ACTE (Oklahoma Association for Career and Technical Education) Summit, recognizing educators who are making an exceptional impact early in their Career Tech careers.
His extensive hands-on background has provided expertise in everything from custom metal fabrication to large-scale industrial projects. After decades in the industry, Larry made the bold decision to bring his real-world experience into the classroom. His passion for teaching began while instructing adult evening welding classes and continues today as a full-time high school instructor. He emphasizes technical excellence, professionalism, discipline, and industry standards, preparing students with the skills, work ethic, and attention to detail needed to succeed in today‘s skilled trades—always within tolerance.
Program Spotlight
CADD The Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) program at MATC is a comprehensive two-year program that prepares students for careers in architectural, technical, and civil drafting.
Students develop skills in creating detailed 2D through 5D designs, with additional exposure to 3D animation techniques. The curriculum provides hands-on experience using industry-standard software, including Autodesk, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office. Throughout the program, students create technical drawings and architectural plans for a variety of projects, including mechanical assemblies, residential homes, commercial office buildings, educational facilities, medical centers, road layouts, and housing developments, building the practical knowledge needed for today’s design and drafting industry.
