Governor Kevin Stitt recently appointed Pauls Valley native Kristin Jarman as associate district judge for Murray County. Jarman replaces Murray County Associate District Judge Mark Melton, who resigned Sept. 30.
Jarman’s diverse legal career has included both prosecuting and defending criminal cases, as well as a broad practice in civil and family matters, wills and estates, real estate, contracts and oil and gas. She has also served as an administrative law judge and municipal judge.
She was one of eight candidates who applied to replace Melton last fall, and one of three final candidates selected by the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission to be presented to Stitt for appointment to the position.
Jarman is filling the final year on the associate district judge’s current term, which runs through January 2027. To gain a full term, Jarman will need to file a declaration of candidacy in April to run for the office on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
