Heritage Days Rodeo set for June 23-24

The 78th Annual Heritage Day Rodeo will be held June 23-24 at 8 p.m. nightly at the Pauls Valley Rodeo Arena. This year’s rodeo will feature performances from the Star-Spangled Stampede Drill Team.

The drill team includes ladies from a variety of backgrounds and ages who perform with the mission of honoring God, promoting patriotism and preserving western heritage.

Big L Rodeo Company and Dale Lyons will be returning for a third year as the stock contractor for the rodeo..

Call in entries are due Monday, June 19. Call in number is 580-276-7151. Books open at 5 p.m. Those wishing to compete in breakaway roping, tie-down calf roping, ranch broncs, and bull riding must call in Monday. Entry fee is $50 for each event. Team ropers can enter four times. Each roper pays $25 per run. Open barrels entry fee is $50; Jr. barrel racing 14 and under $30; Mutton bustin’ six and under $10. There will be a Jackpot each night and contestants may enter the rodeo each night. Advance tickets to the rodeo are $5 and can be purchased at Sharp’s Department Store in Pauls Valley.

The Pauls Valley Roundup Club is also inviting all area rodeo groups and organizations to participate in the 78th Annual Heritage Days Rodeo Parade Saturday, June 24, at 5 p.m., in historic downtown Pauls Valley. Parade participants will gather and line up near the band shell in Wacker Park at 4 p.m. Roundup clubs, drill teams, cowboys and cowgirls, horse and buggies/ wagons, vintage cars and trucks, Scout groups, and 4-H and FFA chapters are invited to participate. The parade is just one week before the Fourth of July, so participants are invited to get as patriotic as they can with red, white and blue. Cash prizes will be offered for the following categories: Riding Club, first, second and third places; Drill Team, first place; Horse and Buggy or Wagon, first place; and Best Car/Truck, first place.
