Aubry Hensley-Gollihare of Stratford has been inducted into Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2026.
She was one of 106 students entering the class of 2026 to participate in the gray-coat induction ceremony at the McKnight Center on OSU’s Stillwater campus Aug. 19. Aubry was “coated” by her grandfather, Gerald W. Parsons DVM, of Stratford.
“This has been a lifelong (I’m talking before I could walk) dream of mine and it was absolutely surreal, yet so special, to have the man who introduced me to it all be the one to coat me,” Aubry said.
“My Papa has been a constant source of encouragement, motivation and steadfastness in this vet school journey.”
OSU’s First Cowboy, Darren Shrum, husband of university president Dr. Kayse Shrum, spoke at the induction ceremony on how significant it is to be accepted to a veterinary medicine program. Citing 2021 statistics from the American Veterinary Medical Association, Shrum said there were 32 accredited veterinary colleges spread across 28 states, and over 50,000 applicants vying for only 3,900 seats in those colleges.
“Of those 3,900 seats awarded, 106 of you are here today, and I congratulate you,” Shrum said.
Aubry is the wife of Jacob Gollihare, also of Stratford. Jacob is a second-year veterinary student at OSU.
