Early voting begins Thursday for municipal and school board elections

Early voting for the April 1 municipal and board of education elections begins Thursday, March 27, for voters in Garvin County.

Garvin County elections set for April 1 ballots include city council elections in Elmore City, Pauls Valley and Wynnewood; town board of trustee elections in Maysville and Paoli; board of education elections for the Elmore City-Pernell, Pauls Valley, Paoli and Whitebead School districts; and a special election in Lindsay to vote on changes to the city charter.

Garvin County voters who live in the Alex, Bray-Doyle or Southern Tech school districts will also have board of education elections to decide.

Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

Garvin County Election Board Secretary Holly Levis said early voting is open to all voters.

“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted through the State Election Board—from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines,” Levis said.

Early voting is available Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the County Election Board office in the Garvin County Courthouse, 201 W. Grant Ave., in Pauls Valley. Levis reminds voters that early voting is not available at polling locations.

Regular polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, April 1.
