Garvin County Commissioners have completed two separate road resurfacing projects recently through cooperative agree-ments and funding from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and local business partners.
ODOT and county officials partnered last fall to complete surface repairs on Airline Road, just west of Interstate 35, near Pauls Valley.
Garvin County supplied materials for the project, as well as part of the labor, and ODOT supplied the equipment for the project, along with labor, according to District 2 County Commissioner Tom Pyle. The Walmart Distribution Center, which is located just west of where the work was done, also contributed $15,000 in funding to the project.
Pyle said State Senator Jonathan Wingard was instrumental in facilitating the conversation between Garvin County and ODOT officials that resulted in the partnership.
In a separate road project completed last month in District 3, more than 2.5 miles of North County Road 3340, stretching from State Highway 19 south to Longmire Lake, was resurfaced. District 3 County Commissioner Mike Gollihare said the roughly $625,000 project was funded with a grant through ODOT’s Lake Access Program. The project was added to the program in June of 2025.
