County 4-H’er recognized at 104th State 4-H Roundup

STILLWATER, Okla. – A Garvin County 4-H’er was recognized for her achievements in 4-H at the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma Honor Night Assembly during the 104th State 4-H Roundup at Oklahoma State University.

Taryn McCaa received the $1,200 Larry D. Anderson Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Larry D. Anderson Memorial Endowment. She also received R.D. Farmer Endowment Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarship is sponsored by the R.D. Farmer Endowment.

McCaa has been an active 4-H’er for nine years and is a member of the Elmore City Pernell 4-H club. Her main project area is veterinary science. She has competed in activities such as livestock showing, livestock judging, creative writing, impressive dress, shooting sports and various leadership activities. She has presented agricultural-related workshops to more than 1,500 students. Her favorite community service activity is making food baskets.

She also enjoys participating in civic engagement activities, in which club members collect blankets and deliver them to the local veterans’ home.

“4-H has influenced my life because of the opportunities to serve others and give back,” McCaa said.

She plans to study veterinary medicine and said the skills she has learned in 4-H will help her attain her goals.

She is the daughter of Jeff and Stacey McCaa.

In all, Oklahoma 4-H’ers earned a total of $200,000 in educational scholarships.
