Pauls Valley Opry, April 1

The Pauls Valley Opry will return to the stage at the Pauls Valley Junior High School auditorium, 302 N. Willow St., Saturday, April 1. This month’s performers will include Tanner Young, Anne Young, David Paul Nowlin, Donna Nowlin, Jeff Petty, Cara Belt and Arty Hill, along with emcee John Williams. Admission is $10. Children 12 and under are free. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m.

 

Beekeeper association meets every 4th Saturday

The Washita Valley Beekeeper Association meets at 6 p.m. every fourth Saturday of the month at the Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow in Pauls Valley. If you are interested in beekeeping, please join us. For more information contact Rick Bellville at 580-399-0656.

 

‘Bank on your Health’ every second Monday

The Health Department’s Mobile Wellness Unit will be visiting First United Bank, 315 West Grant Avenue, Pauls Valley, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 10 for the monthly “Bank on your Health” event.

All ages are welcome. Heatlh screening services will be offered with no out-of-pocket cost.

 

Caregivers support group meets first and third Thursdays

A caregivers support group meets at the Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow St., in Pauls Valley, on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. For more information contact the library at 405-2385188.

 

New story time offered at PV library

Pauls Valley's Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow, will be hosting Story Time at 10 a.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month.

 

Maysville large item pick up days April 10-11

The Town of Maysville will be picking up large trash items that cannot be put in dumpsters April 10-11. Residents with items to be picked up may call the Town Office at 405867-5850 and leave an address for the workers to go by. The items need to be out by the curb or by the dumpsters, but not so close that the regular trash truck doesn’t have room to pick up the dumpsters. Residents can also dispose of large items year-round, by bringing them to the roll-off dumpster at the town maintenance yard.

 

Join PV Chamber of Commerce for ‘Boots and Bling,’ April 20

Pull on your best boots and put on your sparkliest bling for the 2023 Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce Banquet April 20. This year’s celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at the Bosa Community Center, 207 Bosa Ave., and will include live music, fajitas, a cash bar, the dessert dash, a silent auction and a raffle. ‘Let’s Talk About It’ book discussion series April 13

The next “Let’s Talk About It” book discussion series at the Nora Sparks Warren Library is April 13 at 6 p.m. The discussion group will meet the second Thursday of each month through May at the library, 210 N. Willow. The theme of the spring 2023 series is Friendship. April’s title is “Turtle Diary” by Russell Hoban and the discussion will be led by Mark Davies. Library offers new yoga classes this spring

Pauls Valley’s Nora Sparks Warren Library is offering two free yoga classes this spring. Gentle yoga with Mylee will be offered Mondays through May 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Yoga Nidra, a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation,” will be offered the first Wednesday of the month – March 1, April 5 and May 3 – from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Both classes will meet in the library auditorium, 210 N. Willow St., in Pauls Valley.

 

Reception for PV library director

There will be a come and go reception for Nora Sparks Warren Library Director Shari Kendall Tuesday, April 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the library auditorium. Kendall, who has served as library director since 2016, is stepping down from the position in April.

 

Footloose Festival set for April 22

Elmore City’s annual Footloose Festival is April 22 from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Elmore City Area Chamber of Commerce, the festival will feature a variety of vendors, dance contests, lawnmower races, cornhole, bouncy houses and a car and motorcycle show.

Tai Chi classes for better balance and healthy living

Library offers free balance and fitness classes for seniors

Pauls Valley’s Nora Sparks Warren Library, 210 N. Willow, offers free fitness programs for older adults. Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) is an evidence- based strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 and older. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness are the single most important activity adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. SAIL classes are Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

A Matter of Balance classes help individuals to manage concerns about falls by setting goals, making changes and exercising to increase strength and balance. Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. and will be offered March 27-April 19.
