Big Catch

Maysville police officer Mark Morgan shows off a blue catfish pulled out of Wiley Post Memorial Lake (Maysville City Lake) just north of Maysville earlier this week.

The catfish, estimated to weigh about 20 pounds, was caught on cut bait by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife's Fisheries Division as part of routine survey and tagging of fish populations in the lake. Officer Morgan said he observed about twenty more similar in size, as well as several large crappie.

Fishing at the lake is free for Maysville citizens with a water bill as proof of residency. Non-residents may purchase a permit for $20 per year, or $4 per day. Permits can be purchased at Maysville Town Hall, 510 Main St., or online at www.paytpg.com.
