What’s YOUR resolution?

THE FOUNDATION CHURCH OF MAYSVILLE / COLUMN

Good day, readers. Have you ever heard it said that the best time to buy workout equipment is in February or March? That tends to be how long it takes people to give up on their New Year’s resolution. So many of us go in hard and strong and with the best of intentions but just don’t make it very far.

If you think about it, a New Year’s resolution is really nothing more than something you don’t like about yourself and you want to change. Some of those resolutions are: dieting to lose weight or even eating healthier, exercising more, being more active and not sitting around so much, reading more books, working on your relationship/ marriage, etc. But there are a few who want to open and read their Bible more and get a closer relationship with God and to that I say, “Amen.”

You know, the apostle John writes in Revelation 2:4-5, “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.”

The Bible also tells us in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

We all tend to get complacent in life and don’t live the way we should for our Lord and Savior.

We sometimes just do life and put God on the back burner, and let’s be honest, He doesn’t deserve that.

The Bible tells us not to be lukewarm, no sitting on the fence, you’re either in or or out. God makes it clear there is no middle ground with Him.

I want to encourage all of us to make Him our New Year’s resolution. I don’t think any of us can say where the lukewarm Christian line begins for heaven or where the cutoff line begins that leads to Hell. Friends, give your complete self to God today and everyday for the rest of your life. Love him with all that you have, and you won’t have to worry about being lukewarm or where that line is. Please don’t let this last for only a few months but let it be for the rest or your days.

God bless you all and may you have a Happy New Year.
