As America commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Stratford’s Chandler-Watts Memorial Library invites the community to explore Moments That Made Us, a special exhibition examining the ideals at the heart of the Declaration through moments in our nation’s history.
The exhibition looks at how generations of Americans have shaped— and been shaped by—principles including equality, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, freedom, government by the people, and our responsibilities to one another. Through pivotal moments from the past 250 years, visitors are encouraged to consider how these ideals have been understood, challenged and expanded throughout American history.
Moments That Made Us will be on display Aug. 24 through Sept. 28 at the Chandler-Watts Memorial Library, 340 N. Oak St., in Stratford. The exhibition is free and may be viewed during public library hours, Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The original Moments That Made Us exhibition was created by History Colorado. Statewide access to the exhibition is supported by the Oklahoma Historical Society and Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
